We’re all individuals with different experiences, thoughts and points of view. We can even hear and interpret the same sound differently…Remember the whole “Yanny or Laurel” thing? Or “The Dress” where people argued which color it really was? As a member of our Customer Care Team here at BlanQuil, I’m always hearing how different people use their BlanQuils in their own way that works for them. You may be thinking, “How many ways can you possibly use a weighted blanket?” Ahh, great question because there are endless ways to use a weighted blanket! Folding the blanket in half length-wise and placing it just over the legs to deal with disruptive restless leg syndrome. Placing the weighted blanket on the bed horizontally for a subtle upper-body hug. Or for the traditionalists out there, just draping it over your body like a normal blanket for full body relaxation. We’re all different and we can even use the same products in very different ways and for a variety of reasons. I wanted to share my own personal experiences with BlanQuil and we encourage you to share yours!
When I first started working at BlanQuil, I must admit that I was skeptical about the REAL benefits of using weighted blankets. My fiancée and I decided to try one out to see what all the hype was about. I brought home our flagship product – a Grey 20 lb BlanQuil Quilted Weighted Blanket w/ Removable Cover. I used it the first night and was not completely convinced that it helped me sleep deeper or longer. The second night, my fiancée decided to give it a try…
She became an instant believer in BlanQuil. After the second night, the weighted blanket was officially commandeered by her. She is a surgeon and has a very hectic schedule with very limited hours available to sleep. She immediately felt a significant impact and started falling asleep faster, sleeping deeper and waking up feeling more refreshed and energetic. I was thrilled to see a real-life example of our product genuinely help someone achieve better sleep. As we all know, getting at least 7-hours of sleep per night is critical for both your mental and physical health. The National Sleep Foundation points out how lack of sleep can affect your immune system and can contribute to depression, obesity and even stroke.
Understanding the importance of a good night’s sleep and witnessing my fiancée achieve better sleep with BlanQuil, I was determined to continue use of a weighted blanket. Since the first weighted blanket officially became hers, I purchased a 15 lb BlanQuil Chill Cooling Weighted Blanket.
I had gone for a long run earlier in the day and my feet were a bit sore. I got into bed and placed the weighted blanket over my body. I immediately noticed the cooling feel of the BlanQuil Chill and was very happy with that. After a few minutes, the pain in my feet was made worse by the weight of the blanket forcing them to point forward. I adjusted the blanket by pulling the bottom up past my feet, right about to my ankles. This minor adjustment made a HUGE difference – before I had time to worry about counting sheep, I was soundly asleep. A couple weeks later, after helping my dad install his new fence and re-pot some plants, I had to make another small adjustment because of a barking shoulder. By placing my arms on top of the blanket and tucking it to my sides, I didn’t have to give up that restful sleep I became used to.
I am certainly not alone in my experience. I share my story all the time with customers who are unsure if BlanQuil is right for them because I know that if they give it some time and make a few adjustments, they will likely start getting the best sleep of their lives, just like I did! We all respond differently to using weighted blankets but we firmly believe that if you take your time and figure out how to best incorporate it – your sleep will be improved.
